For Graduates (Yushinkai alumni association) and Parents of Students

Graduates of Fukuoka University (undergraduate and graduate schools) and parents of undergraduate students (parent support group) can use the Central Library and the Branches of the Faculties of Science, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Sports and Health Science by requesting a library card ("FUL CARD"). Please note that the campus is not open to vehicle traffic; please use public transportation when visiting the library.
Note: *Graduates from the School of Medicine and the School of Nursing and parents of students of the School of Medicine (parent support group) shall carry out the corresponding procedures at the Fukuoka University Medical Library.

How to use the library

Procedures for using the library

Please bring a valid ID (driver's license, health insurance card, or other official document) that states your name and current address and come to the Information Counter on the first floor of the Central Library.We will issue you FUL CARD. Applications are also accepted by mail and email. If you apply by mail or email, you will be asked to present a valid ID to receive your FUL Card.
Note:Please be aware that issuing a card may take some time.

Term of validity of FUL CARD

(Yushinkai alumni association)
Until the end of the academic year (March 31) in which the card was issued (Card renewal is necessary at the start of a new academic year, even if a full year has not yet passed since you acquired the card.)
Parents of undergraduate students (parent support group) During membership in the Parent Support Group
*Validity of the Card will cease at the time of withdrawal from the Parent Support Group, even if it is in the middle of the school year.

Renewal / Reissue of the FUL CARD

Beginning in April, the procedure for renewing your FUL Card will require that you present the card and a valid ID.


Changes in hours and temporary closings will be announced on bulletin boards, the library website, etc.

When entering/exiting the library and branches

The Central Library is equipped with entrance and exit gates. Please show your FUL CARD at the gates to enter. Follow the same procedure when exiting as well. Each library (branch) has a book detection system installed. An alarm will sound if you carry out any materials without going through the proper lending procedure. If the system is activated, please follow the instructions of the library staff.

Available services

Viewing/Copying Materials

You are free to read the materials on the shelves within the library.
If you wish to borrow materials for which "Central Library ASRS" is displayed in the OPAC search, please enter the title, call number, and Holdings ID in the "application form" and submit it to the Main Counter on the 2nd floor of the Central Library.
If you wish to borrow materials whose location is displayed as "Central Library ASRS 1", "Central Library ASRS 2", "Central Micro ASRS2", "Main Counter on the 2nd floor of the Central Library", "Central Special Needs Support Room 201", "Central Special Needs Support Room 202" in the OPAC search, please fill out the necessary items in the "application form" provided and go through the procedure at the Main Counter on the 2nd floor of the Central Library.
Library materials may be copied (for a fee) for education, research, and survey purposes only. Copying must be in accordance with copyright laws. When making copies, be sure to fill out the "Copy Application Form" provided and submit it at the counter. Only library materials can be copied in the library. The copy fee is 10 yen per black and white copy and 50 yen per color copy.



To check out materials at faculty branches, bring the materials you want to borrow to the counter together with your FUL CARD and follow the borrowing procedure.
In the Central Library, most materials can be borrowed using the automatic check-out machine. Please go to the Main Counter on the 2nd floor of the Central Library for materials that cannot be borrowed using the automatic check-out machine.
Some materials may have special lending periods or may not be available for lending.

Materials not available for lending

We do not allow the following materials to be taken outside the library.
For use within the Library

  • Rare book
  • Books marked as in-library use only
  • Periodicals
  • Newspapers
  • Audio-visual materials
  • Microforms
  • Dissertations
  • Specially designated materials


Make sure to return all the materials you borrow by the due date. Books may be returned at any counter of the Central Library, Medical Library and the Annex of each Faculty.
If you do not return the materials by the due date, borrowing will be suspended for the number of overdue days.

When using the library

  • Please observe the library rules when using library facilities, equipment, and materials.
  • Please place materials on the return cart after use.
  • Please do not leave your belongings unattended at the desk in the library.
  • Please refrain from eating, drinking, whispering, chatting, or using mobile phones outside the designated areas.
  • You may not eat in the library.
  • Smoking is prohibited in the library.

Please note that there are "Refreshment Corners" on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors of the Central Library. You may drink beverages and use mobile phones in the Refreshment Corners. You may not, however, eat in these areas. Furthermore, you may not bring in and/or study materials from the library.
